Photography is a phenomenal hobby. We might be biased as a team consisting of some avid photographers, but we recognise it as one of the best ways to get creative and express yourself. If you catch the bug, you’ll have a lifelong passion, but sadly, it’s not the cheapest pastime. While events like Black Friday offer a great chance to grab some of the best photography deals, that’s not until November. Thankfully, the Amazon Spring Deal Days are at hand.

Running between March 20th and March 25th 2024, this springtime sales event is here to give us some excuses to splash out on new fancy gear and top-up on some essentials before we all head out again for those bright springtime shoots.

Why buy during a sale?

As anyone with a fleeting interest in photography will know, photography is expensive, especially if you invest in the more advanced gear. Rolling around the countryside with a budget compact is perfect if you’re trying to capture a few fleeting views, but it will cost you if you find yourself looking for a more substantial setup.

That is, of course, unless you’re savvy with your buying.

Seasonal sales are a great way to pick yourself up a bargain. Whether it’s a new camera, shiny new lens or anything else photographic, these periods represent the best time to grab a new piece kit. The problem is that trying to find the best deals can be a real struggle.

And unless you’re willing to wade through pages of baby monitors and cheap beauty vlogger ring lights, you may gloss over the most alluring deals. Thankfully, we’re here to do the dirty work. That’s right, we have trawled through the best of the best to find you the must-have bargains for the best prices. All you need to do is sit yourself down, get your credit card ready and start planning your next shoot.

How to find the best deals during sales

There are a lot of photography sites out there, and it can be difficult to navigate them to locate the best deals on camera, lenses and camera accessories.

Take, for example, Amazon.co.uk. Though not a specialist camera retailer, it’s a huge site that offers great prices on cameras and related accessories. Though it does its best to serve you the best deals during a time of sale, it can be a bit overwhelming to navigate, making some unmissable deals easy to overlook.

WEX Photo Video is an example of a specialised retailer with a vast range of new and second-hand products. Though it's impossible not to find camera gear for sale here, searching through its deal pages can still be overwhelming and time-consuming, filtering out products and price ranges until you find something that takes your fancy. Again, this can make unmissable deals easy to overlook.

Here are a few tips to help you make sure that you are getting the best prices on the products that matter most to you:

Know what you want ahead of time

The easiest way to ensure you’re getting the deal that matters is to research products and have them in your basket ready to go should they receive a saving.

We’ve got plenty of buyer’s guides to help you in these efforts, rounding up the best Canon camera to the best action cameras and the best telephoto lenses through to the best camera bags. Have a look, find what you need, and head straight from them when the sales roll around.

We regularly send emails detailing our latest technology and fitness products articles. Around sales events, we switch tack and make them all about showing you the best deals available.

If you sign up for our newsletter, we won’t spam you with rubbish – we keep it straightforward and honest. Depending on the length of a sales event, you’ll get around two emails detailing the savings you could be making.

Keep this article open

We’ll regularly update this article with the latest photography deals. We do all the scrabbling and searching, so you don’t have to – check back throughout the sale to see what’s new.

I haven’t heard of some of these brands. Are they legitimate?

While the big manufacturers control cameras and lenses, the peripherals have been blown wide open over the past few years. Some brands come with years of experience working for bigger names. We’re only recommending brands we’ve personally heard of or items with user feedback to back up their claims.

Is there anywhere I can see independent reviews?

We have plenty of reviews up in our Photography section where we look at cameras, lenses and everything photography. It’s a great place to search for your chosen product to see if we’ve looked at it yet and what we thought.

Will I be getting the latest gear?

Some items may be relatively new. Some items may be a generation or two older, though they are still available to buy from new. While this usually means that the tech may not be cutting edge, image quality has been consistently excellent for the past half-decade so you’ll still be getting brilliant gear at a fraction of the usual price, allowing you to take the next leap in kit without the price tag.

Are these all the deals?

These are the best deals currently available. However, more deals are usually added frequently that we may not have added yet. That said, stock may be limited, and some deals may be time-sensitive. If you need it, we recommend grabbing it while it’s there!
