Best overall iPhone charger

If it's one thing that Apple excels at it's minimalist design and a high-quality build. So it's no surprise that this Apple MagSafe Charger is a little pad with a lot to offer. Firstly, if you haven't heard of MagSafe - it's the ring of magnets inside the phone that makes sure your phone is perfectly aligned with the wireless charging coil in the charger. So, just snap this compact model to the back of your iPhone and let it do its thing. There are 15 watts available too, so you'll get charged up faster.

We particularly like that it's small enough to avoid clashing with your iPhone too. The attached USB cable is USB-C so you'll need your own USB-C power adapter, but other than that this is a brilliant and efficient way to keep topped-up.

Pros

  • The elegant Apple design complements that of the iPhone
  • 15 watts of power for fast charging so less waiting for your top-up
  • Small, light and portable - take this anywhere

Cons

  • Doesn't come with a USB-C power adapter

Best budget iPhone charger

TICCOLO iPhone Charger, 20WTICCOLO

Budget iPhone chargers don't get much better than this. It's a simple little plug, just like most others. However, this packs a generous 20 watts of fast charging power. And it's easy to rig up as well, thanks to the not one but two included cables. One is a USB-A to Lightning cable, and the other is USB-C to Lightning - that means you have loads of flexibility no matter what iPhone you own.

Another important feature of any budget charger is safety, and this one has short-circuit protection and smart chips to control the charge rate.

Pros

  • 20 watts of fast charging power so you'll be topped up in no time
  • Comes with two 2 metre USB A and USB C to Lightning cables for ease of use
  • Short-circuit protection for peace of mind

Cons

  • A little blockier than others

Best charging stand for iPhone

Belkin BoostCharge PRO 3-in-1 Wireless ChargerBelkin

The Belkin BoostCharge PRO 3 will wirelessly charge an iPhone 12, Apple Watch and AirPods at the same time. So, if you're addicted to your Apple gadgets, this is the charger for you. An impressive sight on any desktop or bedside, this will allow an iPhone 15 (or 12 and above) to connect via MagSafe for a free-floating look.

We like the layout of this stand, as the Apple Watch and iPhone have their own pads while your AirPods sit on the base to charge. This is a 15W charger, too, so everything gets powered up very quickly. It looks great with a very Apple aesthetic, too.

Pros

  • The three-in-one design means you can keep all your Apple kit charged and organised
  • MagSafe magnetic alignment for compatible phones means attaching the phone for the best charge is hassle-free
  • A robust yet modern design that will suit a range of decor

  • Takes up more space than most others here

Best iPhone charger for travel

Built and designed for fast and efficient charging with iPhones, the Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter is ideal for topping up your battery when you're away from home. We love the compact design - and that has a lot to do with the plug prongs that are foldable. That makes it easily portable an will slot into a pocket or bag without snagging or getting in the way.

It's compatible with any USB-C–enabled device, too. That said, Apple has made sure that this is optimised for charging your iPhone faster than other devices. It doesn't, however, come with a cable.

Pros

  • The reliable and sturdy Apple build means this will travel well
  • Very fast charging thanks to the 20 watts on offer
  • The foldable plug prongs make this easy to stow away and carry

Cons

  • No USB-C cable included

Best budget wireless charging stand for iPhone

This smart little stand from INIU has some excellent features inside its high-quality build and professional looks. The vertical orientation means you can use this on your desk to keep an eye on it while you work, or as an alarm clock by your bed. We also love that it also allows you to place your phone in landscape or portrait mode while charging.

Best of all, you have 15 watts of fast charging plus a small LED on the side that auto-dims at night and lets you know when it’s charging. Despite its looks, this isn't a magnetic mount charger so you'll need to position your phone yourself - but this is easy, and it will even detect obstructions like phone cases. Using your iPhone on this stand makes charging-up a real pleasure to keep an eye on.

Pros

  • Keeps your phone upright and visible - ideal for the desk or bedside
  • 15-watts of fast charging for compatible devices means less waiting
  • A discrete LED lets you know when it’s charging and dims at nighttime

Cons

  • Doesn’t come with a mains USB adapter

JSAUX Magnetic Wireless ChargerJSAUX

Enjoy the perfect charging alignment that MagSafe brings - but at a much lower price than some others. This model from JSAUX works with any iPhone with the MagSafe feature. However, it has to be mentioned that if you have an older iPhone without MagSafe you could simply choose a case with MagSafe to allow you to snap it into place here.

We particularly like the simple design of this wireless charger. It’s compact too, so won’t overpower the looks of your iPhone when in use.

Pros

  • The MagSafe magnetic alignment means it’s the easiest wireless charger to use for an optimal charging position
  • The compact size means you can take it anywhere and your iPhone won’t look overpowered by this when it's magnetically attached
  • The very sleek and refined look sits well on any desk or side table

Best car charger for iPhone

OHLPRO MagSafe Car Mount ChargerOHLPRO

When we get behind the wheel we all want to slot the iPhone into a solid and reliable in-car mount and forget about it. This OHLPRO MageSafe Car Mount Charger lets you do just that and deliver 15 watts of fast-charging power at the same time.

We like the fact that the mount can be easily installed into an air vent or onto the dash with an adhesive pad. Once there, the mount itself has a 360-degree swivel action, so you can always make sure you can see your screen easily. MagSafe magnetic mounting is the best and most secure option for putting your iPhone into a car and this one is no exception.

Pros

  • MagSafe makes mounting your phone in your car easier than ever
  • The 15W fast charging feature means less time worrying about recharging while you're out and about

Best charger for iPhone for bedrooms

ANJANK Wooden Bluetooth Speaker Alarm Clock with FM RadioANJANK

If you miss a good alarm clock by the bed and also want to play some music or FM radio to wake up to, this ANJANK Bluetooth speaker and wireless charger is the way to go. At only 5 watts this isn't a fast charger though, but we think that if used in a bedroom as an alarm clock, or for overnight charging, it's perfect.

The clock also dims as well, so you won't be disturbed, and the sleep timer can be used for both FM and Bluetooth. With the wooden design, there's no smarter way to wake up with your freshly-charged iPhone.

Pros

  • The attractive wooden design and clock makes this a real piece of homeware that will suit bedrooms and hallways
  • The Bluetooth speaker and FM radio means you can enjoy your music while you charge up
  • Wireless charging and a USB charger port mean you have lots of compatibility no matter what iPhone you own

Cons

  • The sound is fine, but there are better speakers out there

Best iPhone charger for portable power

For any iPhone owner who likes to get out and about, a power bank is an indispensable accessory. This one from INUI is a real powerhouse - it’s a fast charger with 22.5 watts of power to juice up your iPhone (and, of course, other USB-C devices).

We love that this is slim and light compared to most power banks with this much capacity - 10000mA. The charge will last for days or weeks depending on how often you use it. A clear display will show you how much charge is left and charging it up only takes 3 hours using a fast charge adapter. There’s even a little torch built-in for good measure.

Pros

  • 22.5 watts of fast charging power is a pleasant step up from most power banks
  • Little extras like a percentage display for the remaining charge and a torch make this highly usable
  • The power bank itself will fully charge in 3 hours with a fast charge adapter, and last for days or weeks

Cons

  • The included USB-C cable is very short

Best chargers for iPhones in 2024: Buyer’s guide

Don't compromise if you're on a budget

Unlike many Android smartphones, iPhones aren't exactly known for being wallet-friendly. If you've managed to score a phone under £500, you're likely keeping an eye on your expenses. But don’t be tempted to cut corners at the expense of safety and reliability. As with the ones in our list above, high-quality chargers are actually very affordable. Our advice is to buy from a well-established brand.

Consider features that are actually useful

Not every iPhone user requires their device to be on a vertical stand while charging. Some may prefer the efficiency of top-rated fast chargers that connect via Lightning cable over wireless charging options. A fast charger can be great - but if your phone doesn’t support the higher wattages, it’s a waste of money. So, while some of the advanced features may sound fantastic, it's important to consider what you can and actually want to use.

Consider a charger for iPhone based on where it’ll get used the most. If you need a simple charging solution for your desk at work, a charging pad might be ideal. For those who travel, a compact charger could be the solution; meanwhile, if you use your iPhone 14 Pro Max as an alarm clock by your bedside, a foldable stand might be perfect.

Best chargers for iPhones in 2024: FAQs

What type of charger is used for iPhones?

Contrary to Samsung Galaxy phones, which have used USB-C since 2017, many iPhones utilize the Lightning connector for wired charging. This means you'll need a charger that is compatible with the Lightning port. That said, Apple has moved to the USB-C standard for the iPhone 15 and newer.

As for wireless charging, not all iPhones have this feature - but it was first introduced with the iPhone 8.

How does wireless phone charging work?

Wireless charging operates through magnetic induction. By aligning a coil inside the phone with one in the charger, electricity is transferred between the two without direct contact. While this method is wireless, the phone must still be placed on the charging pad to charge. If you have a good case for your iPhone, many chargers will still be able to charge your phone through it.

Apple pioneered the MagSafe magnetic system as of the iPhone 12 - it means that a MagSafe charger will attach to your iPhone with perfect alignment for trouble-free efficient charging. You’re less likely to find advanced features like wireless charging on budget smartphones, though.

Is fast charging safe?

Fast charging delivers more power more quickly than standard chargers. They’re not just packing higher wattages - they’re also designed to only deliver what’s needed. So, if your phone supports the wattage and the whole fast charging standard, it’s perfectly safe and is a real upgrade from standard adapters. As always, check that the charger is certified for use with your iPhone model first.
