Pancake day is our take on Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is the day before the start of Lent, where you can overindulge and eat all the sweet treats you want. It's then tradition to fast up until Easter.

Spain's is actually ‘Omelette Day’.
South American and Louisiana in the US, call it ‘Fat Tuesday'.

How did Pancake Day start?
The name Shrove Tuesday comes from 'shrive', according to History Extra, meaning absolution for sins by doing penance.
