With Halloween just around the corner, our thoughts are turning to fancy dress – and if you’re a Stranger Things fan, the series is packed with great costume ideas. Now in its third season, if you don’t know already, sci-fi horror series Stranger Things follows the adventures of a group of young teens in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana.
The first series shows their ordinary lives rattled when one of them (Will) goes missing, and a mysterious girl with psychokinetic abilities appears out of nowhere. We won’t spoil the other two series, other than to say it’s got real star power, with Wionna Ryder and Maya Hawke playing main characters, as well making Millie Bobby Brown, who plays the cult figure Eleven, a household name.
The reason for the show’s success? As well as swooping dramatic arcs and nail-biting cliff hangers, it’s partly the sense of underlying fun. You might not think a series about flesh-eating aliens could be light-hearted, but there are some really funny moments mixed into the gore.
And, the love for all things ST shows no sign of slowing down – with anticipation building for the fourth series, buy a themed costume now and you’re certain to get repeat wear out of it.

If you were always the kid who liked Captain Hook, Cruella De Vil and the other villains, you're probably going to fancy dressing as the series' baddie! It doesn't get eviller than the Demogorgon, who threaten the safety of Hawkins and rip lives apart. It's not the most attractive of looks, but it's a guaranteed conversation-starter.

Update your Eleven look to match the latest series – when things got seriously 1980s. Discovering a love for girly shopping time, El took to the Mall with her BFF, Max, and found some bold statement outfits. We particularly love this colourful jumpsuit, which has real retro flair and will be super comfy for the whole evening.

Take it back to series one, and arguably the show's most iconic look. Eleven's pink dress and sports sock combo are instantly recognisable and were THE go-to look for both men and women when the show launched. Team with a blonde wig or, if you're feeling bald, sorry, bold – a shaved head!

Any true Stranger Things fan will know that Eleven's favourite snack is the Eggo waffle. Although it's an American treat and a bit hard to find in the UK, the good news is an Eggo costume is much easier to come by…You're sure to stand out at any themed parties!

Not big on costumes – we hear you. It's a nod to the theme and an outfit you can wear home on the bus, without blushing (not to mention re-wear in day-to-day life) too much. Only true fans of the show will get the tiger t-shirt reference.

One of our favourite relationships from season three was the warm friendship that developed between new character Robin and old-favourite Steve 'the hair' Harrington. The pair met while working in the Scoops Ahoy ice cream parlour, and spent the whole series in these charmingly dorky uniforms. Just make sure to use some serious hair product to go with this look.
