The cost of living is crazy at the moment. Gas and energy bills are still high, fuel prices are still high, and train fares are rising even more. It’s left many of us searching for alternatives; maybe now is the time to switch to travelling by bike.

Though rarely cheap, bikes can be found at a discount if you know where to look. One option could be to buy bikes second-hand, yet you never really know what’s happened to the bike. They often need servicing and may be underlying issues which are missed. They’ll rarely come with a warranty.

Thankfully, buying your bike online with a trusted retailer like Tredz means that you can buy nearly new bikes and heavily discounted bikes with a warranty and the protection of buying from a reputable dealer. These bikes are often perfect for those usually smaller or a bit taller because they’re generally smaller or bigger than the most popular bikes for ordinary people. They’ll also come with slight blemishes on paintwork, or they’ve been lightly used as an ex-display model.

So whether you’re a weekend warrior, a daily rider, a commuter or just fancy getting about a bit more on the bike, we’ve trawled the bargain bike buckets and have listed, what we believe, to be some great buys. Of course, if there's non in here which are right for you, we have looked at new bikes, from eBikes under £2,000, to mountain bikes and road bikes. There's something for everyone, including safety.

Tredz Nearly New Bikes

Tredz has a great deal on at the moment, where if you fancy another 10% off the sale price of their nearly new bikes, using the discount code NEARLYNEW10 at the checkout will do just that. The prices listed are without the discount code.

Tredz Nearly New Road Bikes

Price: £2,765.00 (was £3,250.00)

www.tredz.co.uk

Commute to and from work by bike? Go down canal paths or bridal ways? You’ll need a bike which can handle it all. Look no further than this Topstone Neo. It’s in a large, which would suit someone who is between 5’10” and 6’0”. It also has a very secret and powerful weapon in the shape of the Mahle ebikemotion 250W motor, which is decreet in the rear hub. The 250Wh batteries are integrated into the frame to help you get about a bit easier. You don’t often find a cheap eBike, but this could be one for you!

It has been lightly used, and the bike has some signs of wear. Some cosmetic damage on the chainstay, and the forks are now black, not matching the frame’s green.

Pros

  • Save £485
  • 12-month warranty
  • Nicely specced

Cons

  • Some cosmetic damage and wear and tear
  • Different colour front forks to the rest of the bike

Price: £749.00 (Was £949.00)

www.tredz.co.uk

Let’s get it out of the way early on. This is a small bike. A 49cm frame is perfect for someone between 152 – 160cm. So this could be the ideal first ‘proper’ road bike for someone between 5’1” and 5’4”. It doesn’t hold the highest spec, with Claris Shimano gears and mechanical rim brakes, meaning it could be a winter hack or a low-budget commuter bike. It’s never been ridden, so it has no mechanical wear, but it does have some cosmetic imperfections on the top tube.

Pros

  • £200 saving
  • 12-month warranty
  • Great entry-level bike

Cons

  • Cosmetic damage on the top tube
  • Low spec

Price: £2,999.00 (Was £3,600.00)

www.tredz.co.uk

We urge you to look at the photos of this one. These ever so slight blemishes warrant £600 off the bike? Honestly, if you were to witness this bike in the Carbon Fibre flesh, you would likely not even notice the blemishes. They’re the marks you’d expect to pick up on a bike when riding. It’s never been ridden, so there’s no mechanical wear and tear to the Shimano Ultegra groupset or the Mavic Open Disc rims.

The scratch on the bottom bracket is deep enough to take the lacquer off. This could become a point of rust and water ingress without careful monitoring.

Pros

  • Save £601
  • 12-month warranty
  • Nice spec

Cons

  • Slight blemishes to the paintwork

Price: £3,400 (was £4,000)

www.tredz.co.uk

So much has happened in the world of cycling and bikes that it only feels like the Synapse was released last year. Wait, it was. And this model, with its two-tone paint, has a minimum of £600 off? Crazy. The Synapse brought about connectivity and integrated riding to a level not yet seen by its rivals. With a radar on the rear, connected to integrated front and rear lights, you’ll know whom and what is behind you while the lights react to your surroundings.

The bike has been lightly used with some signs of wear. Cosmetically the shifter hoods and saddle is marked, but these are easily replaceable.

Pros

  • Save £600
  • 12-month warranty
  • Desirable Beetle Green paint

Cons

  • It has been lightly used.
  • Cosmetic damage, but parts are replaceable.

Price: £6,525 (was £7,250.00)

www.tredz.co.uk

This bike belongs in the professional peloton climbing mountain stages and winning sprints on the Champs Elysée. There’s not a lot left to say about it than that. The Tarmac SL7 is the flagship road bike for Specialized, and this one has a belting spec, too. Hydraulic disc brakes, Ultegra groupset and even a carbon seat post.
The only downside is that the forks, which were once Tropical Teal to match the rest of the bike, are now white due to cosmetic imperfections.

Pros

  • Save £725.00
  • 12-month warranty
  • Great spec

Cons

  • The forks do not match the frame.

Price: £7,995 (Was £11,500.00)

www.tredz.co.uk

Yes, it’s costly, but we’ve chosen this one for a couple of reasons: look at that saving, add the discount code NEARLYNEW10 and save another £799.50. The SuperSix EVO is ridden in the professional peloton by the men’s team EF Education Easypost and the women’s team EF Education-Tibco-SVB. Carbon fibre everywhere you look, plus Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset to see this bike under £10k is rare. To see it as low as possibly £7,195.50 is crazy.

There is a catch, however. Having been lightly used, the bike has some signs of wear.

Cosmetically, the bike also has some damage on the rear mech, seat stay, crank arm, top tube and fork. The top spacer under the stem is missing on this bike.

Because the bike is dark in colour, you can’t see the damage to the paintwork unless you look closely and a top spacer can be found…

Pros

  • Save £3,505 minimum
  • 12-month warranty
  • Very desirable bike

Cons

  • Paint damage and missing part

Tredz Nearly New Mountain Bikes

Price: £519 (was £629)

www.tredz.co.uk

It may be an entry-level mountain bike, but it still carries some decent spec, Tektro hydraulic discs, front suspension, and the SunRace 9-speed cassette uses a microSHIFT front and rear mech. If you want to dip your toes in mountain biking to see if it’s for you while having something you could commute to work on or ride the trails with the kids on, this bargain bucket bike could be for you.

Pros

  • Save £110
  • 12-month warranty
  • Great entry-level bike

Cons

  • Cosmetic imperfections on the top tube

Price: £2,549 (was £2,999.99)

www.tredz.co.uk

Let’s get the dad joke out the way first, guess the paintwork on this isn’t Nukeproof, after all. Yes, that tiny blemish on the seat stay is responsible for this fine full-suspension enduro bike having £450 knocked off of it. A Deore groupset with a 12-speed cassette will get you up and down the trails utilising a T6061-T6 aluminium frame to create balance regarding stiffness and weight.

Pros

  • Save £450.99
  • 12-month warranty
  • An excellent entry-level full-suspension bike

Cons

  • Just the blemish to the paintwork

Price: £4,499 (was £8,699)

www.tredz.co.uk

Hang on. Four bags were dropped off this one bike because it’s been lightly used. A bit of paint scuffing on the chain stay and brake lever? What’s the catch? Well, just those things, and you could have this Lapierre Spicy CF with SRAM X01 Eagle groupset. It’s rare to see a full carbon fibre full suspension MTB for less than £5,000, so to see this in a popular frame choice so cheap, it won’t be here for long!

Pros

  • Save £4,200
  • 12-month warranty
  • Outrageous spec

Cons

  • Lightly used with some light cosmetic damage

Price: £5,499 (was £7,500)

www.tredz.co.uk

A full-fat MTB with an added boost in an electric motor? Under five and a half grand, you would not usually see a bike like this, but if you fit it, you could be in for the deal of the year. A full carbon frame, SRAM X01 Groupset, DT Swiss rear hub, and Competition Race spokes. This is a serious eMTB.

The downside, of course, is that the bike has been lightly used with some signs of wear. Cosmetically the bike has some damage to the crank arm, rear mech, saddle, rear wheel arch, chainstay, rim and fork. This is the sort of damage you would expect when using a bike like this to its full potential.

Pros

  • Save £2,001
  • 12-month warranty
  • Very desirable bike

Cons

  • Light mechanical wear and tear
  • More than a few cosmetic blemishes

Tredz nearly new commuter bikes

Price: £399 (Was £525)

www.tredz.co.uk

If you want a bike to get you to and from the office in comfort and speed, you might only need to pay this, with mounts for panniers on the front forks and mudguard mounts on the rear.

Tredz says the bike has been lightly used, and there are some signs of wear on the bike, but it has a decent discount, and with an extra 10% off using the discount code NEARLYNEW10, it is a steal.

Pros

  • Save £126
  • 12-month warranty
  • Perfect commuter bike

Cons

  • Lightly used and has signs of wear, but it is nothing that you wouldn’t do after owning it for a couple of months.

Price: £959 (was £1,399)

www.tredz.co.uk

An eBike for less than £1,000 has everything you’ll need to commute to and from the office. Yep, this bike is gorgeous. We love the white tyres, the matching saddle, the handlebar grippers and the paintwork. What’s more, there is a little bit of front suspension for added comfort. The powerful and discreet Suntour motor in the rear hub and a whopping 400Wh battery pack…

Okay, it’s a little heavy at 23kg and carrying the signs of a bit of light use, there’s also some cosmetic damage on the downtube and seat stay, but it’s still a great buy.

Pros

  • Save £440
  • 12-month warranty
  • Great buy

Cons

  • Cosmetic damage and signs of light use

Price: £999 (Was £1,199)

www.tredz.co.uk

This little bike is super sleek, and it is that, in a small size, it’s a small bike but packs a big punch. To kick things off, integrated front and rear mudguards with a rear pannier rack. It has integrated front lights for visibility in all conditions and hydraulic disc brakes. It’s never been ridden but does have some cosmetic blemishes on the downtube, front mudguard and mudguard support.

Pros

  • Save £200
  • 12-month warranty
  • The cosmetic damage is so minor!

Cons

  • Not if you’re the right size and looking for a commuter at a deal price. Buy it.
