Tech brand Trust has just released the Trust Taxon 2K QHD webcam, an affordable 1440p webcam compatible with Windows PCs and Apple Macs.

As the name suggests, the Trust Taxon 2K QHD carries a quad-high-definition camera capable of capturing footage at a resolution of 2560x1440. The camera also supports 1080p and 720p. All three resolution options operate at 30 frames per second.

The wide-angle glass lens has an 80-degree field of view and carries an auto-focus which automatically pans to the person speaking. There are two in-body microphones for audio capture and a built-in privacy filter for peace of mind when off of calls.

The Taxon 2K QHD also comes with a universal mount that allows the device to mount on top of a monitor, stand independently or mount to a third-party tripod via a 1/4 -inch screw mount.

With an RRP of £69.99 (and a 30% launch discount on Amazon UK, currently pricing the webcam at £48.99), Trust has positioned the Taxon as a compelling option for casual and business webcam users and streaming newcomers alike.

It’s notably cheaper than the Logitech StreamCam, an impressive all-in-one accessible HD camera aimed at vloggers, and slightly more affordable than the Logitech C920 Pro Webcam, one of the most popular webcams on the market. In fact, on paper, the Trust Taxon matches the Logitech C920 across the board, finally beating it on resolution.
