The Xbox Series X loading sound has been revealed via a tweet from the official Xbox twitter account.

It’s a subtle tune, and is pretty lengthy. It’s a notable deviation from the Xbox One’s very short and sharp one note opener, moving more towards the longer and softer notes heard on previous generations – particularly with Sony’s PlayStation 2.

This audio sample comes shortly after confirmation that Xbox will be keeping the One’s user interface on the Series X. The new sound, and the promise of a few new features and boosted UI performance suggests that it’s not entirely business as usual (via TSA).

A console’s start up noise is hugely important. It’ll be heard hundreds of times, and burn itself into the mind of millions of players. The importance of an iconic loading sound was highlighted by Sony’s Future Of Gaming stream, which began with the iconic PlayStation load from 1994.

Sony has also teased their PS5 load up noise. YouTube channel 'PS360HD' has isolated the clip which was first shown at Sony’s June 11 event.
