What’s The Best has partnered with Parkers – the definitive resource for car buying advice in the UK – to bring you the award for the Van of The Year in its prestigious new Van and Pickup Awards 2024. The winner is the Ford Transit Custom, and it is one of a total of seven award winning commercial vehicles revealed today (15 November).
For Commercial Vehicle of The Year 2024, the Transit Custom was a clear-cut winner. Let’s face it, it would be a shock if the successor to a multi-award-winning and best-selling van wasn’t good, but the Transit Custom’s innovations are genuinely clever and different to everything else that is out there.
Tom Webster, Parkers Vans and Pickup Editor, said: ‘The biggest van in the UK in terms of importance, sales and influence is back. The previous version of the Ford Transit Custom is a former Parkers Van of the Year, so our hopes were high when the new one came along, and they weren’t just met, they were exceeded.’
He added: ‘This is a van from a company that has clearly and positively listened to its customers, enacting some genuinely useful new features in the process. The flat cabin floor and the forthcoming L-shaped bulkhead are the kind of things that will have designers at rival brands rushing off to formulate their own alternatives.’
The winners have been appraised rigorously by the Parkers.co.uk team, which judged the best in their class for a combination of value, quality, reliability, cost-per-month on finance deals and fitness-for-purpose. Finance was minutely evaluated, too.
Keith Adams Parkers editor added: ‘This is the first time we’ve spun out the vans and pickups from the New Car Awards, reflecting how important commercial vehicles are. We’re also excited to have come up with such an interesting selection of winners, and such an outstanding Commercial Vehicle of The Year. We’re more than happy with all our winners – they’re all part of a brilliant line-up.’
The Van and Pickup Awards 2024 reflect the constantly evolving views of Britain's commercial vehicle-buying public, with winners decided by a combination of the site's expert reviewers' verdicts in thousands of miles of road testing and the purchasing habits of the website's 2.3 million users actively involved in the buying process.
